reviewing and upgrading Armacell insulation training programmes to provide
"world-class training services"
Armacell Engineered Systems‘ global team of application specialists was renowned for providing good quality training and support services but wanted to improve their package of application manuals, bring consistency to their training programmes and ensure that their clients could more quickly and easily understand how to apply their insulation systems. The project priority was upgrading Armacell insulation training packages to deliver “world-class training services“.
When Armacell’s clients requested application manuals they were often sent multiple long documents which were mainly text based but contained details of essential steps to be followed to install thermal and acoustic insulation systems correctly.
The manuals were difficult to assimilate and understand quickly, especially for non-fluent English speakers, and this brought an unfair perception of complexity. The documents had been modified, developed and grown over an extended period, and using them to achieve consistency for training applicators was difficult.
Armacell wanted to press reset and have new manuals, training programmes and competence assessments which showcased the quality of their insulation systems and application specialists.
We performed a detailed global survey of client perceptions and requirements, a competitor review, and a study of existing documents.
We proposed a reduction in the overall quantity of application manuals from 20 to 3, with a focus on systems rather than components, and for new training programmes and assessments to be written. In order to reduce reliance on English as the training language, every key procedure was converted into simple graphics, bringing clarity about the right and wrong ways to perform key procedures.
We worked interactively with Armacell’s global team of application specialists (trainers) to develop a full package of graphics, new manuals, presentations, training programmes and assessments, and successfully managed the launch of the programmes.
